Glaslyn - February 2008
High pressure over the Cambrian mountains and the moorland around Plynlumon as dry as it would be for weeks, I headed east from Llyn Glaslyn on the hardtail to enjoy some old school biking. The heart rate monitor read 160+ as I bashed my way across bog and clumps of grass. Sweating, slightly dizzy and far too unfit, it was great to be out. Famous as the inspiration for Samuel Taylor Coleridge's infamous line from the Ancient Mariner - "Water, water everwhere....", the moor spawns 5 rivers including the Severn and Wye. After three hours of hard slog and with wet feet, a crust of salt on my forehead and a broken pedal, I made it back to the car. A wonderful ride in the middle of nowhere.
